2015 Niepoort LBV

Post by winesecretary »

Bottled 2019

Pop and decant and pour

Still plummily dark but with a crimson rim. Really glossy.

Quite spirity but clearly well fruited nose with some dust behind

Softly lush fruit on entry and then the most splendid blueberry early mid palate then a really well made summer pudding. Chocolate cherries in best quality kirsch on the finish.

This is cracking port and if I am honest with myself I prefer it to fully half the wines at the 1963 tasting.

I think it cost 15 euros from Garrafeira Nacional…

I have just bought five more bottles, so that I have a round half dozen on hand for drinking over the next decade.

This is a great wine, I too have a handful of bottles in my cellar.
