1976 Quevedo Colheita (bottled 2023)

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Q76c, bottled in 2023 in 10cl format for the 2023 advent calendar. Pop and pour. A wonderful russet colour, much lighter than the 1992 tasted alongside at about 40% opaque. A delightful nose of lavender, beeswax, black tea and golden syrup. Elegant on the palate, full of flavour - of golden syrup and brown cane sugar, lemon and lime, like a beautifully cooked Shrove Tuesday pancake. Such a wonderful balance yet without sacrificing intensity of flavour. The aftertaste is impressive, with the citrus and brown cane sugar slowly changing to become a long caramelised nuttiness. Gorgeous Port.  95/100. Opened 03-Jan-24. Pop 'n' pour.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
