1985 Martinez VP

Post by KillerB »

Opened at 16:00. Looking very clean and nice cherry nose coming out. Looks a little light at the moment but we know that it darkens. Cork was damp and broke leaving about 1/8th inch behind - weirdo. Looking forward to drinking it later.

The Martinez 1985 is not up to the optimum decanter time that we all know and love. It's still a little thin and has an acrid taste which is a bit medicinal. Underneath there are cherries and zest of orange but it will be a lot better tomorrow.

It's now settled down and the nose has lost the sharpness. Lovely cherry flavours in the mouth and a fabulous milk chocolate finish. Sounds just like the stuff AHB is drinking.

Are you getting the Turkish Delight sweet rose jelly at the end of the mid-palate?

This is very tasty. Wonder where I can get some more?
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

Didn't get it in the mouth but it is noticeable on the nose now you mention it.

I have but one left now.
