1998 Taylor Quinta do Vargellas

Post by DRT »

Decanted 24 hours ago. This glass taken from a half bottle that had been placed in the fridge 1 hour after decanting. The remaining half bottle mysteriously disappeared last night

Nice fresh red fruits on the nose. An initial burst of blackcurrant then very tannic and dry. A reasonable finish with some dark chocolate and mouthwatering black fruits.

This is an excellent port to drink now and I'm sure will improve for a few years. Not thick and sumptuous enough to make me thin it will last decades but then it wasn't meant to.

A good wine from a not bvery good year.
