1980 Fonseca Vintage Port

Post by g-man »

I liked this bottle alot, but everyone we've asked to taste prefered the 83 Noval Marco.

Nose of cinnamon, cardimon and honey. Tastes of spicy honey graham crackers, cloves and strawberries (julian convinced me).
A wonderful 40 second finish of mint and red berries.

At bottle opening a big spiciness to the palate, but 5 hours later it totally shut down, disjointed alcohol, opened up at 7-8 hours again.

Recommended decant for my bottle would have been 6-8 hours.

89. It's a thin for a fonseca ... and while enjoyable. .. like other forumites have said, not up to par for a Fonseca.
