1991 Cockburn

I decided to pop this bottle at very short notice. It was stood up for no more than ten minutes, yet decanted cleanly.

Decanted yesterday evening, immediately approachable, and not noticeably altered 24 hours later.

The wine has good colour, with a perfectly clear meniscus and a good blackcurrant nose.

Much more grown up since the last bottle i drank from this case, almost exactly two years ago.

However, it seems rather mono-dimensional, in much the same way that varietal table wines differ from blends.

Is this a varietal port? - I can't help wondering. If so, the lack of complexity counts against it. On the other hand, the ease of decanting and immediate approachability make this a perfect choice for restaurants..

The wine is not yet fully mature (but getting there..)

Yes, and after another day I am noticing a little softening and improvement. Decant it early, if possible.
