2007 Cockburn cask sample (Touriga Franca): purple colour, of course. Big flowers! Much hotter than the Touriga Nacional cask sample. Big violets too.

No pictures — sorry.

My note says "Floral nose. Very dry."

If 2007 is declared as a vintage, this wine would normally make up about 40% of the final blend.

Touriga Franca barrel sample. Deep purple colour, opaque edge. Vivid nose with masses of cranberry and blueberries coming through very strongly, with an interesting added attraction of cruched gorse. Fruit impact in the mouth, slight tinge of bitterness but the fruit dominates absolutely. Tannins are well hidden by the fruit. A very lovely structure leading into a huge aftertaste of sweet fruit. Absolutely delicious. 87/100.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
