1994 Niepoort Colheita

Post by benread »

This was purchased recently from Uncorked. I felt guilty having sampled all of their free ports one lunchtime with very little moderation - it was a "help yourself" tasting and Jacob and I did!

On to the port...

It was tasted alongside the best looking (ie state of cork) Kopke 1983 I have. Interestingly, the colour distinction between them was almost undiscernible - both being a brown / ruby red but clear.

This was almost like caramel on the nose and indeed very sweet to taste as well. It is a lovely glass of port but one to be drunk with lots of friends or over a few nights.

I have half the bottle left for tonight so more may follow.

Returned to this tonight. I still got caramel. Friend 1 got figs. Friend 2 got wet aardvark!
