1938 Kopke Colheita (bottled 2002)

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Bottled 2002. Deep chestnut colour with a yellow / green rim. Lots of spirit with some honey and walnuts on the nose. Brown sugar in the mouth with the acidity dominating the mid-palate for a time before allowing the sugar flavours to come back through. The brown sugar theme carries through to the aftertaste with an added bitter component reminding me of quinine that was rather pleasant. Not a great wine but certainly enjoyable. 91/100. Tasted 30/6/07.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
