1992 Quinta do Vesuvio single quinta vintage port

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Good red colour, just turning transparent in the centre but holding into the rim. Still surprisingly young blackcurrants n the nose. Initially dry and reserved in the mouth, with fruit restrained by a substantial amount of tannin. Clove complexity in the mid-palate and a lot of heat late in the mouth before more aeration brings back some blueberry. The aftertaste is big and fruity with a tingle on the cheeks before leaving a long finish of sweet Cox' apples. Clearly a wine with a good few years development yet to come. 92/100. Tasted 30/10/08 after 2 hours decanting.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
