2000 Quinta do Vesuvio single quinta vintage port

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Deep red, opaque, very sticky on the rim. Quite closed on the nose, but some blueberry does show through. Silky structure but punishing tannins dominating over the glorious fruit. Little complexity showing in the mouth because of the overwhelming primary fruit. A sticky aftertaste with yet more primary fruit. Shut this away for 20+ years, it will become magnificent but is still such a primary fruitbomb. 93/100. Tasted 30/10/08 after 150 minutes decanting.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
