2004 Quinta do Vesuvio single quinta vintage port

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Black in colour, purple rim. Stewed beef bourgignon on the nose with a fantastic black pepper mixed in. Wonderful balance on entry, with a great fruit impact; sweet blueberries and blackcurrants. Tannins are restrained and elegant. Balance is perfect all over this wine. The aftertaste is dominated by dark chocolate , but is a little short in this company. Still a very good wine, however. 91/100. Tasted 30/10/08 after 3 hours decanting.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
