1955 Taylor vintage port
Ruby centre, redcurrant jelly on the nose - a huge bouquet that lifts sweetly out of the glass. Surprisingly hollow when it first enters the mouth and takes a long time to deliver. But when it does - wow! What a combination of flavours and complexity. There is the typical Taylor burn when you swallow, but this fades quickly and leaves a long and powerful aftertaste. A very big wine, impressive today and with many years ahead of it. Probably the best overall port at the Third TPF Christmas Offline. 92/100.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.
2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

Very red - fabulous nose - thick, chewy with tons of red fruit and still tannic. Brilliant!!

Classic Taylor - a bit of a beast - pipped by the SW47 and 1908 for top wine IMO

I completely agree, though my palate struggled to change gear from the other, more delicate, Ports we were drinking to this one. One to revisit in a decade or so’s time!uncle tom wrote:Classic Taylor - a bit of a beast
