NV Sandeman White (Clipper Dry)
Believed to have been in the bottle since the 1970s. Served without decanting. Very pale straw in colour. A really offensive nose; sour, aged and off! Horrible in the mouth. Disgusting. If you do buy Clipper White Port, please don't keep it for 30 years. Not rated.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.
2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

Re: Clipper Dry White Port
A slight correction to AHB's very good assessment of this wine: It was decanted 8 hours before the Off-line and returned to the original bottle for transport purposes. It actually didn't sow as badly when first opened so I don't think the decanting helped. That said, it was a truely horrible experience.

Re: Clipper Dry White Port
I don’t really like dry white Port at the best of times!though at least this gives me a second answer for that ‟have you ever had a Port you didn’t like” post!
Derek, perhaps you should try Madeirising them?

Re: Clipper Dry White Port
For the purposes of the TN index, is this ‟Sandeman Clipper dry white”, or just ‟Sandeman dry white”?
Re: Clipper Dry White Port
Clipper was very promenant on the label so I would suggest it is included in the index.

It might have been an off bottle. Open another to test and if the same, pour all of them down the sink.

Here is a picture of the bottle of pig-swill that we (partly) consumed on 12th Dec 08...
Thankfully my question about 11 remaining bottles was a joke
