1997 Quarles Harris vintage port

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Light in colour, still red and with no sign of bricking on the rim. A light nose, minty with redcurrant. Dry in the mouth, the fruit takes a while toshow through but does eventually dominate. A light and elegant style which will reward a further 5 years of cellaring. The aftertaste is sweet and sticky, with lots of dried cherry and cocoa and is surprisingly long for a port with a lesser reputation. 89/100. Tasted 27/11/08.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
