1997 Fonseca

Post by jdaw1 »

Boxing Day, 26th December 2008, a modest selection of Fonsecas were sampled, really for the joy of doing so. There are several threads pertaining to this tasting.

sediment decanted 5pm the day before and poured immediately back into bottle for 24 hour "under cork" decanting.

ruby/purple color with a sweet yet light nose.

Fonseca 1997, having been decanted well in advance though I failed to record when. Provided by MW.

The same black-red as the others, but the colour also containing a hint of grey. And, though apparently not there at opening, an ’orrible bottle stink that wouldn’t go away. Not enjoyed by me; not rated.
