London (Crusting Pipe) 15 Jan

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Theme of this tasting is "Bring something to share with other port lovers".

Venue will be the Crusting Pipe in Covent Garden. Start time will be 6:30 for 7pm.

Anyone who reads the forum is extremely welcome to attend, just post here to say you would like to. Please also post your preferred date.

Alex

Ben - please note slight change in my available dates, but I could make the 14th if that was the only day you were free.

Either could work - will be my first week back after being in the US so I may even shop for something different there!

These dates don't work for me as I need to be elsewhere on the mornings of 14th, 15th and 16th

Are there any dates in January which would work for you?

Jacob - are you free on the 13th or 15th?

Once we get a firm date, I have a couple of possible guests that have expressed interest.

Of the two dates, the 15th looks better to me; I could do the 13th but would have to join you after dinner. ‟Bring something to share with other port lovers” seems a little too easy, though. We should, at least, make it blind!

Alex, have you booked (or do you plan to book) with TCP? I presume with a few of us it doesn’t really matter, but they might have a change of staff over the new year who could be awkward about corkage and the like!

I haven't booked and don't plan to with only the three of us. Last time we just pitched up with such a small number, we made sure we had enough glasses between us, ordered food and soft drinks and paid the bill we were given - only one bottle was charged for so we didn't complain but simply left a decent tip.

Much as I would like to attend this, I'm sorry to say that I have to attend a funeral in Lancashire. Even without that I would have been abandoned in Leeds anyway. Have fun without me.
