1996 Quinta do Crasto

Post by DRT »

Sainsbury's BOB

D+0
Closed nose. Nice weight. Very, very tannic and dry.

Oops! Should I have left this one sleeping?

More later.

D+24 hours
Very fresh black fruits on the nose. Thick, chewy and tannic. Chocolate and damson jam. Big long finish.

Very nice juice. A keeper.

£15 from Sainsburys. I bought these in a sale at 25% off about 2 years ago. I think they still have them at full price of £20 per bottle.

Annoyingly, Sainsbury’s’ port page doesn’t list what they have.

(And yes, the apostrophe usage hurt.)

If there was a shortlist for the title of 'Best undeclared vintage since 1931' - 1996 should be on there.

I'm not rushing to drink any more before they turn 20..
