1963 Warre, bottled by BBR, and opened on the third attempt! with a garotte. Opened to celebrate the arrival of my second child, and my first son.
D+0: quite translucent red brown. Nose suggests an old port a little past the plateau, with alcohol and bitter cherries. Needs time. Taste to match: also needs time.
Mustn’t finish it tonight: must save some to wet the head of Maximilian.
1963 Warre
Re: 1963 Warre
Warre 1963, at D+18hr: Some heat, some menthol, good length, but not enough fruit. There is a bitterness, maybe astringency, in the mid and late palate that says that it is past its prime. Drink up.
A couple of drops landed on Maximilian’s hair without complaint from owner.
