Post by jdaw1 »

As part of the plan to drink JDAW’s US-located port, a tasting of Taylor, Fonseca, Warre was held on Saturday 18th April 2009 at Petite Abeille, 401 East 20th Street at First Avenue, NY 10010-7501.

T77 decanted 14:25. Good red, less translucent than the F of the same year. To taste a hint of oak? Eucalyptus? Plus berries. Rather good.

T77: the nose very flat, and the taste a bit mushy. Corked?

reddish dark brown.

Minty celery note on the nose with a hint of reddish fruit. Very muted.

Simple and one dimensional of milk chocolate with a slight burn but a med to full body.

86.

Light brown, just as the Fonseca and Warre. Musty nose, slightly corked? To taste very light and evolved, tawny-esk. Some interesting dried lemon-peel but otherwise very unimpressing. 84 points.

A nice and interesting discussion followed after tasting this port. LadyR and I thought the port could be slightly corked, but g-man was quite sure it wasn't. He agreed it was slightly off, but thought it may have been a different bacterial infection. I can live with that.

Menthol and a bit vegetal in the nose, its weak and thin in the mouth. The cherry, and other flavors, are balanced and light. This isn't really a blockbuster, it tastes too evolved. 89
