1985 Offley Boa Vista

Post by uncle tom » 09:58 Wed 29 Apr 2009

I have loads of Offley '83, but only one lone bottle of the '85. Past notes on this wine have been a bit mixed, so I thought I'd pop it to see how many more bottles I should seek to secure.

Decanted 36hrs ago - not a great deal of evolution to report.

A very dark wine, with an excellent nose; very tarry on the palate with notes of cocoa and plenty of fruit. Not yet mature, but not as extreme in that respect as the Fonseca. A good wine that will be much better given another decade.

Score 6-8

- I'll be looking to buy a case of these.
