1994 Calem Vintage Port

Post by SushiNorth »

+0 Impenetrable Garnet color, with a hint of blue in the meniscus. There's a smell of blackberry and vegetation, some spirits and a little tobacco, but mostly overpowering fruit. It's beautiful in the mouth, hot but silky, followed by acid and tannin in the back. It's full of fruit -- blackberries and blueberries -- and leaves a hot alcohol burn in the throat. It's tail is thin, but lingers. The dregs in the glass eventually taste like robitussin.

+5 Light, mostly just heat, with a taste of grass in the tail. Totally thinned out from before, with a little milk chocolate showing.

Returned to the bottle and refrigerated, this is meant to be drunk tomorrow night. This was really lovely when it opened, but it's gone down hill quite a bit. I'm hoping it turns way around for tomorrow.
