2007 Quinta do Noval Silval

Post by DRT »

Tasted as part of DRT's Review of 2007 Cask Samples

Each of the paragraphs below are separate notes taken over a period of a few days:

Nose a little raw. Huge thick fruit bomb entry. Good acidity and very smooth. Well balanced in the mid palate. Tannins dominate a long finish. Delicious.

Nose now showing a little spirit and red fruits. Nothing else different to first tasting. This seems to be an excellent big wine.

Very smooth. Not as big as yesterday but perfectly balanced and delicious long blackcurrant finish.

Nose showing primary fruit and some heat. High acidity and soft tannins. Blackcurrant with a hot finish. Has lost some weight.

Thick and chewy - very smooth entry. Fruit bomb but nicely balanced. Finish could be longer.

Excellent wine. Big and bold with good acidity and tannin. Slightly let down by the finish.

Molasses nose. Good weight, fruit bomb with levels of acidity and tannin in good balance. Not a huge wine but very good.

Cherry nose with a tiny amount of spirit. Medium weight with a smooth entry. Red fruits, high acidity and a little spritzy. Medium tannins with a huge fruity mouthwatering finish.
