1966 Fonseca vintage port

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Soft red in colour, showing perfect maturity. Softly hot on the nose with sweet plum jam although more subdued than would be expected. Lovely and silky in the mouth. Lots of fruit in the palate and plenty of subtleties. Surprisingly tannic and quite big. Huge aftertaste. A big and very fine wine. 93/100. Drunk 26 June 2009.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
