1970 Quinta da Manoella Colheita

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

A cask sample of a colheita from the family reserves of Quinta da Manoella Deep red in colour, opaque but with no purple. Funky nose, typical of a freshly drawn colheita; a deeply concentrated smell of dried cranberries and meat juices. In the mouth the concentration is evident, big and full of sweet dates. An amazing tannic grip, so mouthfilling. Huge. Wonderful aftertaste, tingling and deliciously long. Given that I generally don't enjoy colheita ports, I was very impressed with this one. 95/100. Drunk 27 June 2009.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
