1970 Sandeman vintage port
Pale in colour compared with the other Sandeman vintage wines being shown alongside (1960, 1963 and 1977). Sweetened redcurrants and a dusty, peppery bite to the nose - very similar to the 1977. Soft, sweet and elegant in the mouth and showing lots of dusty tannins. Sweet, but perhaps a little simple compared to its peers at the tasting. Still fruity and enjoyable. Huge aftertaste, really big and flavoursome, full of elegance and jelly beans. 91/100. Drunk 26 June 2009.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.
