1945 Taylor vintage port

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

From the cellars of the Duke of Buccleaugh. Cloudy appearance. Paler in colour than the Croft 1945 shown alongside. Yeast and bread (some described it as paint) on the nose. Affected badly by bacterial infection. Not tasted, not rated. Opened 29 June 2009.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

the oddest smelling Port I've ever put my nose into. Major problems, yet it was soundly sealed by a Taylor's 4X wax seal and branded cork.

Very sad, I thought that it smelled like zinc and castor oil cream. There was no way it was entering digestive system.
Port is basically a red drink

Lets look at this positively. In this way Christian did not put the spitoons on the table for nothing. :D

This same fault was later seen in a bottle of Taylor 1960.
