A very enjoyable evening at the Crusting Pipe, especially for me as until a few days ago I thought I would miss it due to being elsewhere.

TNs will follow sometime soon but for me the WOTN was the Smith Woodhouse 1983. A hard one to find and I am now rather disappointed with myself that I have drunk my way through a 6-pack in less than 3 years and have none left :crying:

Close second was the Ramos-Pinto (yes, JDAW, it did have a hyphen) 1985 supplied by Uncle Tom. An excellent port that won 3 out of 5 votes as WOTN - AHB and I being the out-voted with our preferrence for the SW83.

The Dow 83 was very enjoyable but much more evolved than other bottles I have had recently.

The Cavaninha 87 was unfortunatley tainted with either VA, TCA or both.

The Churchill Agua Alta 83 was a first for me (and, I think, everyone else) but failed to impress anyone apart from our beloved "I haven't ever tasted a port I don't like" AHB.

Thanks to all for their contibutions and their company.

Derek

A recount might be necessary.

Very disappointed not to be able to attend at the last minute. I did at least open a 1987 Malvedos in your honour last night!

As an aside, I have just acquired some of the SW83 - the only ones available though!

Derek,

I am about to import the Sym super seconds from the 80s and 90s. They are not too cheap, but I am happy to get some for you, too, if you want.

Shame I couldn't make this last night, I had another appointment in Nottingham with a small but very fast Australian, who I have to refer to by the title 'Shihan'. It is unusual for two of my hobbies to clash as violently as this but the opportunity was surprisingly more rare so had to take it. Hope it was as good a night.
Port is basically a red drink

It was my second but the group made it win. Democracy at work.
