1994 Graham vintage port
Deep in colour, almost opaque and holding into the rim. Sharp on the nose, with a sour bramble and redcurrant apparent. Medium- to full-bodied; sweet and full of cherry fruit. The tannins are soft, but lurk behind the fruit and plentiful structural acidity. The aftertaste is terrific, with a long and lingering finish, dominated by bitter nutskins and dark chocolate. A stunning wine, which will improve with more time. 94/100. Drunk 8 September 2009.

Shared a bottle of this with g-man and g-woman in New York last year. Lovely Port and many many years away from best but still surprisingly drinkable.

Thanks for the note, Alex. Good to know it shows that promising. Recently I purchased 6 bottles.

Re: 1994 Graham vintage port
Fresh, fruity nose. Very thick and chewy texture with masses of black fruits and anicede. Slight biterness in the finish, which I thought was rather "clipped" with the fruit fading very quickly but with sweetness continuing to make the cheeks water for a long time. Strange but obviously a great wine with a long life ahead, although surprisingly approachable now.

Unexpectedly light for a good un. Quite spirity on the nose I felt. Slight flat opening though that could have been the outdoor tasting. Good long finish with a smooth heat and flavour of nut skins. Rather delightful. 92/100 and the top 94 in a good quality horizontal. Got a good chance of being long lived.
