1997 Croft Quinta da Roeda

Post by benread »

A recent acquisition as a "cellar defender"! As its age would suggest, a very dark red colour with only a little translucence at the very edges. The sediment was of fine and sludgy nature, making it important to stand the bottle well beforehand. It had been! It has a certain youthfull smell but with a real spice in the mouth. Not as tannic as I expected and quite drinkable right now, whilst giving lots of hints it will improve over the next 5-10 years. Not sure the other bottles will last that long given their purpose though!

Showing a lot of promise at a Taylor Fladgate tasting, definitely worth considering at the price
