2007 Niepoort Pisca Vintage Port (from barrel)
Tasted in the new Niepoort lodge (old Osborne lodge) in VNdG.

This is now in tank, ready to be bottled. The thing that strikes most is the beautiful minerality on the nose. Dark and complex, but not massive. Very focused and precise, elegant. It has good structure, but the tannins are very much masked by the round fruit. I liked this a lot. Nick Delaforce told us that all samples that were taken direct from barrel / tank showed much better than the bottled barrel samples, with which he wasn't happy at all. Good to know, and one to buy for sure.
