A nice bright ruby red but quite translucent for a wine of this age. Some VA on the nose. A nice thick texture. Strawberry entry and and very, very sweet in the mid-palate. Some anicede in the finish, which lacks that classic Dow dryness.
Quite disappointing at this stage and not much to suggest it will improve

What the bejeezus is anicede? Are we having a spelling trauma again?
I've had this a few times and it's never come up to scratch. I've lost interest in 1983s, I wonder if we should have a 1983 off-line to sort this stuff out.

Less VA on the nose, but still there and annoying. Darker in the glass and thicker in the mouth. Not as sweet as yesterday and now a nice peppery warmth and dark cherry on the palate. Better, but still not great.

Much better. I now cannot detect any VA on the nose. Is this possible? Thick and chewy with nice dark fruits and a reasonably long finish. I am glad that I have only downed 3 glasses before this evening

Hi Derek,
I am a fan of Dow 1983 too. It takes an awful long time to come round but then it is really great. Also because of the VA and slow evolving it is still cheap and easy to get.
