2004 Dow LBV

Post by KillerB »

Master Blend label.

Picked up from Tesco at £5.49 for 50cl, suspect offer is over. Very dark but clear. Medium viscosity and nice legs. Vanilla on the nose but little fruit or spice. Medium weight in the mouth with heavy sweetness and cherry pie flavours. At the back it comes on with the acidity and a dry Dow finish which lasts. This is actually very good and now I wished that I'd picked a few more at that price. Oh hang on, they only had two left and the other one's in the kitchen. OK, so it would have been nice of they had more. As far as filtered LBVs go, this is pretty darned nice and meets the Dow profile to a T.

Had bought one bt of the Dow Master Blend 2004 to qualify for the cask discount. This is really very nice for a filtered LBV. A bit linear but for 5.49£ you cannot go wrong. Good news is it looks the Tesco offer is back.

This has, indeed, returned to £5.49. I have just bought two of them.

Marvellous!

I bought one today and the 50cl bottle now only has 25cl of port in it

This is good drinking stuff. Not complicated, ready now and does just what it is supposed to do.

If there is a Tesco near you go and buy some tomorrow.

Thanks for the heads-up. Dow LBVs when this cheap are always very good value!
