1963 Quinta do Noval vintage port

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Deep rose in colour, light and inviting. Juniper spiciniess on the nose - sweet and ripe. Balanced and elegant in the mouth, full of fruit and a huge burst of oranges in the mid-palate. A big aftertaste, with a long length. Really delicious, but with a slight harsh note in the centre of the palate, perhaps from the huge levels of acidity. Of the two bottles at the tasting, this gave the best first impression but faded with more time in the glass. 90/100. Drunk 17 Dec 2009.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
