1970 Crasto Colheita

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Golden brown colour, slight green rim. Typical stewed fruit nose of a colheita. Sweet and thick in the mouth. A good wine, but not one which seems to have travelled well. NR. 17 Dec 2009.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

Too bad about this one as it's one of my favorite Colheita's. What was off about it?

It just wasn't as well balanced as times I've had it before. My guess is just a bit of travel shock or perhaps an imperfect bottle.

Mucky orange, cloudy, rusty brown. Sometimes in life the eye is treated to a ‘joy to behold’. Not this time.

Nose of sweet raisin. Tasting of simple sugar and lots of acid.
