1980 Croft Quinta da Roeda vintage port
Slightly cloudy appearance, pale in colour. Showing little on the nose and with a hollow impact followed with lots of heat in the palate and very little fruit. Patience with the wine in the mouth allows some candied fruit to come through. The aftertaste is hollow but eventually some bitter orange peel shows through on the finish. 80/100. Drunk 1 Feb 2010.

Red-brown, slightly tawny. Nosing of raisins. To taste: burnt? Coffee? Heat heat. Lovely soft raisins.

Some maple syrup component which is rather interesting, if a bit feint. Very smooth in the mouth. Not a tremendous amount of flavor, but it is quite silky. More weight than the 75s, which stood out at first blush, but over time, the lack of flavor/complexity became increasingly clear. 82
