1970 Taylor, decanted at 15:30 and the decanter-priming sample being tackled most of half an hour later. Very similar in appearance to the KL70: mid-opacity, glorious red fading to pink except that the edge might be pinky-brown. The nose is fuller, including plums and brown sugar. Far darker and more brooding to smell. To taste lighter than the nose suggests, and a hint of artificial sugar. There is also something vegetably: my brain perceives itys texture more clearly, so is saying ‟bamboo”. (Did that help? No, thought not.) The fruit all red, so no plums, intermittent heat on the tongue. Simpler than the KL70, and fading faster to pure sweetness. Still lovely port, but the lesser of the two.

Mature, but not going anywhere quickly.

Wow -- I'm quite surprised to see this trailed behind the Kopke. Is that representative in your experience, or was the Taylor a bad bottle?

Not the best of bottles, but not bad. KL70 is a little-known gem: all of my batch ( ) have been superb.
