1985 Graham
1985 Graham
Part of The Graham’s Vertical, held 22nd March 2010.
Re: 1985 Graham’s
Decanted at 15:30, the cork emerging cleanly. Vertically branded ‟GRAHAM’S 1985 VINTAGE”, with newlines between the words. Nosing of red fruit, a little high-toned: is that a trace if eucalyptus? Very soft and unctuous, very sweet, alas a little thinner than the best G85s. Red cherry, and maybe a little raspberry.
SCP-DFF: nosing of cherries, maybe like a tiny bit of eucalyptus, but also fennel or aniseed. (JDAW: aniseed yes.) To taste something nutty about it.
More later in both senses.

Re: 1985 Graham’s
At D+4hr, still very minty to taste, still thin even watery, still lacking Graham’s richness. An unsatisfactory bottle, methinks. If I recall correctly the annexe tasting was allowed a Graham’s 1985: hopefully that one will be better.
Re: 1985 Graham’s
At D+8hr, still thin, and perhaps fading. The mint still very clear, though continuing until later in the palate than before. There has also appeared a slight vegetable note.
I have had many excellent bottles of G85, of which this is not one.
