Deep centre, but easily transparent, pinking on the rim; lighter than the 1967 alongside it. Dusty brambles on the nose, fairly open, deep redcurrants and gooseberries. Sweet and fruity on entry; delicious sweet strawberry syrup with good complexity. Pleasant flavour profile, which develops well. A big aftertaste, full of flavour and of good length. Delicious port, drinking extremely well but with many years ahead. 91/100. 13 Nov 2009.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

S66: paler than that later revealed to be the S67. Pepper on the tongue, a bit light, but even so fuller than its sibling. ‟Later: a hint of mint.”
