At the Malvedos vertical I wrote that the (ex-cellars) bottle we drank there had ‟horrible problems on the nose, possibly reasonable on the palate had it survived.” Regrettably this bottle was exactly the same. I wonder if Malvedos 1976 is one of those wines were something went wrong whilst bottling?

GM76: very sweet, but with a little bottle stink. Rather short. Viscous; cherries. I couldn’t get past the bottle stink: not liked.

The '76 we had at the Malvedos tasting was corked, something totally different than bottle stink. Bottle stink will normally blow off the longer it is exposed to air.
