Here are a few pictures of Quinta de la Rosa taken during my trip to the Douro in April 2008.
The Quinta incorporates a small hotel and is situated just 2km west of Pinhao on the north bank of the Douro. The rooms are quite basic but are very clean and comfortable and at 85 Euro per night for a double room are quite good value given the convenient location.
The main Quinta buildings as viewed from the south side of the river...
The young vines sprouting new growth for the 2008 vintage in front of the main house...
A pipe of 1993 Colheita gifted to a family member to commemorate an important event or birthyear. There are many such pipes in the cellar of this Quinta...
A spectacular view of Pinhao in the early morning of 21 Apr 2008...
Anyone who has any information or questions about this Quinta or their wines please feel free to add to this thread.

Re: Quinta de la Rosa
My wife and I spent 2 days at la Rosa in 2007 and then 4 more in 2008. Wonderful B&B. The patio is absolutely spectacular, and the walk back into Pinhao isn't bad at all.
They also serve dinner, but not every night and only with fairly significant advance warning because they attempt to coordinate everyone's interest into a single evening. The cook is very good, though, so it's worth it to schedule one dinner at the Quinta if you get the chance.

Although I already learned that the tpf-lers are not the sporty types, here is a great pool as well:

Re: Quinta de la Rosa
Stayed three nights (in the same room as Glen!); lovely location and place to stay. As long as the weather is good a very pleasant and easy walk from Pinhão. In the harvest you can also tread the grapes if you ask in the morning and they are doing them that night.
Dinner was a little disappointing compared to the very good reviews I have heard: rather bland vegetable soup; bacalhau in a white sauce with peas (for fish eaters); and a ramekin filled with stewed apples & pears. You get full bottles of their cheapest white and red table wines (Vale da Clara), and a glass of their (excellent) Ruby Reserve Port. It just didn’t seem to me to be much better than you would get in the small places in the town and it would have been nicer if they had half-bottles of their better wines rather than full bottles of their cheapest.
Breakfast, however, was lovely, with home-made preserves on the terrace overlooking the river.

Re: Quinta de la Rosa
It's a lovely dramatic view right from the Quinta.
