This was fairly dark, and quite heavy in the mouth, but didn't have the kind of structure or fruit that I was hoping for. Perfectly fine, and well made, but again, lacks some distinction or nuance.

What I'd say about the 82s is that no wine we had was a 'complete package.' In a way, this is a fair representation of the vintage as a whole.

When decanted this had a lot of bottle stink, and from supping the dregs I wasn't sure it would show well. The cork was also of notably poor quality.

In the event it performed quite well, but was not exceptional in any respect.

The bt of Sandemann 1982 on this night was not a pristine one. Hence I do not want to coment on its performance except for the problems (bt stink etc.) it was still not a bad wine.

Quite nice but not as good as other bottles of the same I've tried. Perhaps something was wrong.

Mid-red colour, showing little on the nose. Sweet, medium-bodied entry; acidity is rather harsh and dominates the palate - takes a long time to recede to reveal sour damson fruit. Sweet and figgy aftertaste and a finish of good length. 84/100.

Not as good as the bottle we bought from The Crusting Pipe in February, which we drank on a pop 'n' pour basis.
