1992 Churchill LBV

Bottled 1998; appears to have been filtered when bottled given the minimal sediment in the wine. A wonderful aroma of cranberries and sweet raspberries filled the room when decanting.

Tasted after 90 minutes. A pale red colour, quite transparent on the rim. Smelling odd on the nose, quite a lot of VA in the mix. Offputting. Light bodied on the palate, minimal attack. What flavours there are, are an odd mix of sweet and acidic. Rather unbalanced and, indeed, unpleasant. Faint remnants of fruit on the palate, but plenty of VA (and I am not usually bothered by VA). Harsh, acidic and burning aftertaste. Overall, this wine has very little to show for itself. I assume this is a bad bottle, but this is downright unpleasant. NR. 22 August 2010.
