W77, opened late evening for reasons that, at best, were not terribly clear. Red, with a hint of pink, and 50% opaque. Taste and nose closed, needing air time, with, at least in the mouth, heat and some mid-palate burn. Let us see if we can manage to save some for later.
DRT thinks it tastes of a beef and potato snack. Best not to ask.
1977 Warre
Re: 1977 Warre
DRT, at D+10 minutes: ‟It has been in the decanter too long. We had better drink up.”
Re: 1977 Warre
DRT, at about D+40 minutes: ‟put it up to my nose and thought ‘sample-size crisis’ ”.
Re: 1977 Warre
DRT: lots of red fruits.
JDAW: also acidity, perhaps grapefruit.
DRT: cranberry.
JDAW: very soft initially, then lots of heat mid-palate, which fades gradually to the end. Not my best W77.
DRT: I think it needs time. We will try again in thirty minutes.
