QH77, from JDAW. When decanted at 2pm full of very tart cherry. By 7pm a lovely red though only 40% opaque, the nose full of cherries. Same to taste, richly sweet. Earlier in the evening I thought it slightly marred by a hint of acridity in the mid-palate, but that faded. Thought to be Cr82 (THRA); Cr80 (RLC); and W83 (AHB). Voted 2nd by THRA and RLC; 3rd by AHB and JDAW. So we went to the tie-break process: could anyone be persuaded to switch the ordering of QH77-Df85 preference? I could give them a tie, so QH77 2nd placed.

Mature red, good colour but with a clear centre. Sharp, minty nose; prunes and roses showing well. Great texture on entry, medium bodied and with a lively pepperiness.. Delightful sweet fruit and a perfect balance of secondary flavours. Lovely sweet start to the aftertaste, followed by a long aniseed finish. Tasty port, perfect for drinking with friends. 88/100. Drunk 26 August 2010.
