There is no port in Paris.

The co-authors, communicating by Skype IM whilst beavering away on the tome, realised that DRT was terribly ill.

So DRT disappeared, to open an emergency medically-required OBV83. You just can’t be too safe. A 6cl sample bottle was promised to JDAW (request yours here, and if there’s any left over, DRT will consider the merits of your request).

The deadline for such requests has now closed, as it is estimated that, at current pace of drinking, DRT will be needing ≈69cm³ of the OBV83.

OBV83, decanted nearly 30 minutes. Very dark red. Completely opaque. The nose is surprisingly closed given how long I have given it in the decanter.

Vanilla and strawberry in the nose. Nice meaty port. A good weight with a chewy texture and tons of black fruits. I really wish my good friend JDAW had a glass of this in Paris right now, I'm sure he would enjoy it.

I really like OBV83. It drinks very well right now but has enough substance to last a decade or more with no trouble. This is a very good value VP. Buy all you can and drink it whenever you think ODS is setting in.

OBV83 and a nice crumbly Wensleydale go very well together.

I am now on my way to the local drop-off point of the International Red Cross who are co-ordinating the relief effort to combat the Port famine in Paris. French Air Trafic Control are attempting to block all in-coming relief shipments but I am led to believe that our covert forces have dug a tunnel to allow a small quantity of aid to reach the tortured souls in Paris as quickly as possible.

Famine +24 hours
Some marzipan on the nose, with a little spirit. Soft dark fruits. Lots of tannin and quite dry on the palate. Very good drinking port. Just the sort of thing you would wish your distant friends had a glass of to share with you in times of need.

Happily, a parcel has just arrived, labelled ‟OBV83 Emergency Supplies”. Notwithstanding Kissinger‘s ‟There cannot be a crisis next week. My schedule is already full.”, an emergency is expected this evening.

This is lovely.

80%ish opaque, dark dark red. It looks a lot younger than 27. Great weight, very sweet and long, with some heat mid-palate. No berries, I want to say ‘like plums’ but really it is just like good port.

Note to self: acquire. Multi-day decant. (I’m drinking this at eight non-refrigerated days.)
