1995 Croft Quinta do Roeda vintage port

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Decanted off a large amount of fine sediment sludge. Wonderful smell of blackcurrants during decanting.

Deep red colour, opaque. Nosing beautifully of dry blackcurrants. Mouthfilling impact, huge waves of blackcurrants and blueberries; massive acidic structure, supporting the spicy tannins. Big aftertaste of hot blackcurrant, followed by a long finish of dark chocolate and bitter blackcurrant. Simply delicious port, and with lots more potential yet. 90/100. Drunk 19 September 2010 after 48 hours of decanting.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

CR95: at D+5d, 70% opaque, dark red, pink at edge. Very jammy and cloying. Slight acidity, and heat. Very pleasant port to drink on a tram ‟tram port”.
