1967 Dalva Colheita (bottled 2009)

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

A blend by the famous chef Rui Paula. Bottled October 2009. Tasted at C. da Silva's new tasting house in Vila Nova de Gaia. Orange colour, 20% opaque, light green tinge on the rim. A clear "colheita" nose, with paint and over-ripe melons. Lovely mid-weight texture, gentle (and balanced) acidity with plenty of orange marmalade and grapefruit juice. A dry aftertaste, then a big finish of citrus, pomelo and candied peel with hints of toasted almonds. This is a lovely colheita and with delightful balance. 89/100. Drunk 28 Sep 2010.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
