Does anyone have any experience (good or bad) with the Big Yellow wine storage facility in Fulham?
http://www.bigyellow.co.uk/wine/#tabBar
I have managed to mistime my house move and will be itinerant for a couple of weeks, and would prefer to avoid lugging my wine/port about with me. This place is convenient in terms of location and offers storage by the week so could do the trick nicely (though i haven't found out about price as yet), but i suppose I'm slightly sceptical at the "Big Yellow" aspect!
Grateful for any thoughts
Thanks
Rob

Found the prices...intriguing...but no insurance obviously.

To bridge a house move, BY is probably a sensible option if you don't live too far away, but the long term costs are painful...

I use Big Yellow and recommend them unreservedly. They are rather pricey, but are one of the three companies in the UK of which I know who offer self-storage facilities designed specifically for wine. The convenience is amazing - the almost perfect substitute if you don't have a cellar at home.

Re: Big Yellow Wine Storage
Compared to the rates here in Seattle that's not that bad. Seattle Wine Storage charges $80/quarter (or $275/year) for a 16-case locker. Rates are higher per case for smaller lockers ($40/quarter for 6 cases). From what I read when I was researching storage options, access is neither terribly convenient nor terribly inconvenient. The do also offer walk-in storage starting at $1040/year for 65-85 cases, going as high as 2000-case capacity (no price listed).RAYC wrote:"costs per 4 weeks when storing 15 cases at The Wine Cellars;

So Big Yellow sounds a little more expensive, but also more convenient.

Thus far (er, 2 months!) I have little complaint with Big Yellow. Comparatively expensive, yes. The security and convenience is very good (access from 05.00 to 23.00) especially if, as Alex says, you don't have a cellar (a rather tricky proposition when you live in a flat).
