Sainsbury Offer
Sainsbury (at least my local one) is doing a "buy 6 bottles and get 25% off" offer today. Eira Velha 2000 is already discounted to £15 so my resistance has crumbled.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.
2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

Your resistance was never solid enough in the first place to be able to "crumble."DRT wrote:So has mine.AHB wrote:my resistance has crumbled.
Quiver like jello, sure, but crumble?

Re: Sainsbury Offer
Just been out and picked up three more FG96 plus a half dozen Dow Trademark which, with the offer, go under a fiver each. Also three Heidsieck Monopoles already down to £14, so now £10.50 - nice, bog-standard champers.

Re: Sainsbury Offer
The 25% on 6 is now finished, but the Eira Velha & Qd Crasto are now discounted to £9.99. Surely they can't be making any money out of this?
Anyway, my shopping bag ended up being considerably heavier than planned. Also, haste is advised as the shelf was already half full at lunchtime.

I've already bought 21 bottles at £11.50 - should I feel cheated?angeleyes wrote:the Eira Velha & Qd Crasto are now discounted to £9.99.

Re: Sainsbury Offer
That offer's not on at mine, only one bottle of Eira Velha at £14.99 - should I feel cheated?

Re: Sainsbury Offer
I just picked up three bottles of the Eira Velha 2000 for £7.99 each. They had stained labels and were on the reduced shelf.
Muito obrigado.

Re: Sainsbury Offer
Turns out that they have discontinued the TTD Port so this is the last opportunity to get some, it also explains the dicount. I have reserved the last four at a nearby Sainsbury's and I'm picking them up today.

This post makes me want to cry.
Where are OUR great port discounts? (and what will we do, now that we cleaned out WineConsigners???)

Re: Sainsbury Offer
Just had one of those couldn't believe my eyes moments. Was about to pick up some Blandy Malmsey Colheita '01 at £10.34, when I noticed Fonseca Guimaraens '96 at £10.47. Needless to say I bought a few (and got the extra 5% off)! Unfortunately I don't think it's a store-wide offer, more a local one (Camden Town) as I haven't seen it on their website. There is at least one left at the back of the shelf but I just couldnt .. quite .. reach !

Re: Sainsbury Offer
Ahhh Christ! Am I going to have to trudge up to Camden now to pick off that last bottle? What a nuisance! Can't they just keep all their ports in the City?
Re: Sainsbury Offer
And again, 'til the 7th. Without wishing to sound like I'm in Sainsbury's advertising, it means that:
Graham Q.d. Malvedos £19.25, Graham Crusted £9.35, BOB Vintage 2004 £11.24 (I think), Taylor LBV £7.49, Cockburn LBV £6.00, Taylor 10 y.o. Tawny £11.47. Also, Taittinger NV £17.99, Lanson Black Label NV £16.12, and most bargainous of all, Laurent Perrier Vintage 2000 £22.49.

Re: Sainsbury Offer
My local Costcutter has Taylor 2003 LBV on offer at £6.99 - almost half the price of the nearest Tesco..
